I was both encouraged and convicted when I read Dr. Dan Reiland’s article “It’s Not a Secret!” in The Pastor’s Coach. Reiland serves as Executive Pastor at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and he also coaches many pastors.
In the article he lists three basic things that drive churches forward: prayer, outreach, and leadership development. Addressing this third area, he says, “. . . to be good at developing leaders, you must continue to grow yourself.” He sees coaching as a key element for such growth. “You need someone to tell you the truth, give you wisdom, and encourage you along the way.”
